This Allium is suddenly showing up in a lot of gardens on FB. How did I not know about it before. Yours is lovely and so nice to have such a flower in the fall.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember how I learned about this Allium, but I'm glad I added it several years ago. One note: Among the many Allium species in my garden, it's the only one rabbits have nibbled on. Because of this, I have it caged, and I sprinkle rabbit-repellent on it occasionally. It is nice to have the fresh blooms at the end of the growing season.
DeleteWow, that may be the prettiest Allium I've ever seen! Not that I've much luck with anything in that genus.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty, and the sun was capturing it in a magical way on Sunday. Alliums seem to perform well here, even in partial shade.
DeleteThis flower is truly beautiful, and your shots do it justice.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The sun was capturing it at an angle and in a unique way the other day. I do love the blooms, even at the end of the growing season.
DeleteWinter is knocking on our door.
ReplyDeleteI still have some zinnia blooming. I am not ready for the big change of seasons. Hang on Autumn.
Carla
Hey Carla: Yes, winter will make a quick visit on Monday and Tuesday, and then before long it will stay awhile. I'm trying to be OK with it. I just picked a bunch of Zinnias again today. I always miss them over the winter. :(
DeleteSo beautiful. And you took great photo of it too.
ReplyDeleteThank you. They were gleaming in the angled sunlight the other day--begging for photo captures. :)
DeleteLove the rich colors – dark pink, orange, green!
ReplyDeleteYes, the pollen really is a bright orange color. The Allium petals look different in different light conditions: On cloudy days, they look more lavender/purple; on sunny days, more pink. The flowers are quite small, but I tried to zoom in with the phone/camera.
DeleteWow, that allium is its own festival. So pretty. Hope it makes it a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteSusie: Believe it or not, even after a couple of nights with freezes, the flowers still look decent. Not as fresh as in this post, but still very pert and pretty. I think I need to add more to the garden.
