I prepared a very simple vase this week, for reasons I'll share at the end. Thanks to Cathy for hosting In a Vase on Monday.

The star of the show is Ornamental Onion Allium 'Globemaster.'

Just as lovely, and supporting the star, is Cranberrybush Viburnum (V. trilobum). The blooms are a little more open than last week, but still good elements for the arrangement.

The Viburnum foliage is fun, too. It forms the framework, along with the three Hosta leaves.

The Siberian Irises (I. sanguinea) are blooming now, as well, so I included a couple stems in the arrangement.

Here's a view of one out in the garden.

So, it's a simple collection. Head on over to Rambling in the Garden to share your garden arrangements, and to see others from around the world.
I'm taking a little break from blogging for a few days, as I'll soon head to the Garden Fling in Memphis, Tenn. The Fishman is caring for the puppy, kitty, and garden while I'm gone. I'll have many things to report on when I get back!
It's a lovely arrangement, Beth! Have a great time at the Fling! I'm passing this year but I look forward to your coverage :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kris: Darn, I wish I'd get to visit with you, but maybe next year? Flings are so much fun; I wish I could go to every one, but it's not always possible.
DeleteThe hosta leaves are great finishing touch, Beth, and the viburnum is such an interesting bloom to admire close up - you have put together a very artistic combination. Enjoy the fling!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy. Yes, I love the Viburnum blooms, and I'm learning more about them as cut flowers. I haven't used them enough in the past. They don't last long in a vase toward the end of their blooming cycle, but they lasted longer than a week when I cut them earlier in the blooming period...for last week's post.
DeleteI love the bouquet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip my dear friend. Cannot wait to hear all about it.
Love, Carla
Thanks, Carla. I hope you can join us for a Fling one of these years. It's great fun, and you get to tour so many amazing gardens with fellow plant-lovers. ;-)
DeleteThanks for all the purple & green, my favorite combo (I bet I've said that before). Happy trails :)
ReplyDeleteAh...I love blues/purples and greens together, too. I hope we'll get to meet in person one of these days. Enjoy your summer adventures, Hollis!
DeleteQuite a striking arrangement, Beth. I like the burst of purple and the wide, summer-cool foliage. Have fun at the Fling! Tina
ReplyDeleteHi Tina: Thanks! It's so fun to do vases from May through October. The garden and woodland are very generous. :)
DeleteSome of my former favorites. I am missing Siberian Iris now! A pretty composition. I am waiting to hear all about the Fling! Have fun. Amelia
ReplyDeleteHi Amelia: The Siberian Irises don't last long enough, but they are beautiful while they bloom. The Fling will be great fun...can't wait. :)
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. It's wonderful to have so many options this time of year. <3
DeleteOh wow, have a great time! Can't wait to read about it, beautiful arrangement.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was great fun. Have you been to some Flings?
DeleteThat’s a very unusual and highly effective arrangement, Beth. The star for me is the huge allium, but adding the hosta leaves at the back is genius - it adds so much drama.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine. I have so many Hostas here, and they're great for structure and filler. The Alliums are fun to play with in arrangements.
DeleteGorgeous --the variegated leaves framing the star of the show Allium is just right.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fabulously fun Fling!
Thanks! Yes, the Fling was wonderful. It was great to see gardens with old and new friends. :)
DeleteA beautiful arrangement Beth. It is like a picture. Alliums and irises make the June garden. I hope you are having a wonderful time at the fling. I wish we had something like that here. It sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Chloris: What a kind comment. :) Yes, the Alliums and Irises are stars in the early summer garden, aren't they? The Fling is open to anyone, and many join us from locations around the world. Maybe you can join us in the future. :)
