It's time for In a Vase on Monday, the meme hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. Today I have a very simple contribution, but it smells heavenly. The scents of Lilacs (Syringa vulgaris) combined with Lilies of the Valley (Convallaria majalis). The aroma is almost too much, but I couldn't resist.
I added a bit of Convallaria foliage for structure. Sometimes simple is OK, especially when the scent is the highlight of the collection.
Check out the other vase entries at Rambling in the Garden. Have a great week!
Wow! that is beautiful. I wish I could catch a whiff and simple suits the flowers perfectly. Amelia
ReplyDeleteThe scent is, of course, wonderful. I wish they bloomed longer during the growing season--their time seems too short. :)
DeleteWow that must indeed smell heavenly. Two of my most favorite flowers especially in May.
ReplyDeleteI agree; I love both for so many reasons. I wish the Lilacs lasted longer in the vase, though. Even with split-stem cutting, they only last a couple of days. But, oh, the scent. :)
DeleteOh wow, that must smell amazing! Lovely combination!
ReplyDeleteIt does smell wonderful. I keep stopping by and taking a whiff. ;-)
DeleteSomeone really needs to invent smell-o-vision! However, even as a purely visual display, your arrangement is lovely, Beth. I have fond memories of lilies of the valley from my childhood and wish I could grow them in my current garden.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know: Wouldn't smell-o-vision be wonderful? Especially for memes like this one. ;-) Thanks, Kris. Yes, I have very fond memories of Lilies of the Valley, too, and my mom used to grow them. They're considered invasive here, but I have them planted in kind of a contained area of the garden.
DeleteOh yes!! My mom's favorite flower is the Lily of the Valley.
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to grow them, too. :) Pleasant childhood memories. Have a great week!
DeleteSo very pretty. I walked to the wood's edge yesterday where a swathe of lily of the valley grow hoping to gather a bouquet. They were beginning to brown on the bottom so I was out of luck. I picked a few fiddlehead ferns instead for my IAVOM post. Your bouquet is so lovely. The buds of the lilac so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour IAVOM post and arrangement were lovely, too. Everyone has such wonderful, creative combinations to share. :)
DeleteA charming arrangement, Beth--a lovely nod to Spring! Tina
ReplyDeleteHi Tina: The scent is always such a joy each spring. :)
DeleteMy goodness, that must smell glorious - intoxicating even! Thanks for sharing it, Beth
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. You are welcome; I wish I could share the scent. LOL.
DeleteTwo of my favorite spring scents... swoon-worthy! Eliza
ReplyDeleteI know. I need to spend more time sniffing them because their time is way too short.
DeleteAh Beth ... once again you brighten a Wyoming morning, this time windy and cold.
ReplyDeleteOh, glad to share. We've had a pretty good spring so far--lots of back and forth as always. But lately beautiful weather, with temps in the 60s and 70s. Love it, even with an occasional thunderstorm.
DeleteOh, what a beautiful arrangement. I can just imagine the wonderful scent.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was very easy, but the flowers and the scent make it so. The scent is amazing. :)
DeleteOh man... that must smell divine!
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed, Loree. I wish these guys would bloom longer in the season...the scent is so special. <3
DeleteWhat a beautiful vase combination today, Beth! I especially love the Lily of the Valley. 💕
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jo. They're still blooming away in the garden, so lots of little arrangements. :)
DeleteWow! I bet that smells fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYes, it did smell very special. I wish these blooms would last longer. :)
DeleteOh, that’s gorgeous, Beth. What a fabulous perfume you must have in the room. The lilac and Lily of the Valley make a good team in the vase - a great combination.
ReplyDeleteThey are good companions. The Lilacs don't last very long (a couple of days at most), but the LOVs last several days. Both of course add sweet scents to the house. :)
