  1. The inset photos are a great way of sharing closeups of your beautiful park in May. I'm glad spring has reached you at long last!

    1. Indeed. I'm not a great fan of the coldest days of winter, but I do enjoy the change of seasons. :)

  4. The word "fen" had weiredly dropped out of my vocabulary for some reason until it suddenly came into a conversation this weekend and now, here it is beautifully represented.

    1. I was reading about this particular spot in the state park information, and it's identified as a fen, which makes sense based on the proximity to the lake and the meadow area. It's a very special spot, with unique plants and a view across to a marshy area and then the lake in the distance.

    2. I have never heard of the word "fen" and had to look it up. I don't think we have those here. Nothing is "boggy" but we do have plenty of "mud and mire." Been "mired" up on the back of a tractor many times as a child. Never been "fenned up" though. Hmmm.

    1. Thanks. Wild strawberries are fabulous--lucky you, too! I love Zizia aurea. I don't have enough sun for it here, but it's fun to see it during hikes and visits to sunny natural areas.
