  1. That was fabulous! Not a surprise to those of us who live near a prairie but I bet many people have no idea how it changes over the course of the year.

    1. Thanks, Linda. Yes, the prairies around here are truly special. I've lived in and visited several "prairie states" and locales, and Southern Wisconsin, particularly Dane County, has preserved some valuable plots. Prairies are underappreciated.

    1. It was fun to capture this location throughout one year. I might try to do this again next year, in a different place. :)

    1. Thanks, Lynne. It was a fun journey. I hike at this prairie/park at least once a week, so it was a good place to capture the changes throughout the year.

    1. Yes, it was fun to focus on that particular location throughout an entire year. We frequently hike the prairie, but I'd never focused on one view before. :)

    1. Yes, the sky was beautiful in all seasons, as was the prairie--even when dormant. :)

    1. Yes, the prescribed burn was probably healthy for it. It will be interesting to see if the plant composition is different next growing season.

  9. I have never seen a prairie at different seasons and only thought of them as green grass. Wow. Such a difference in scenery.

    1. Yes, very colorful. And frankly, this section of the prairie wasn't as colorful as others in the area. I should have selected a different section. But I wanted to stick with the same spot. In other sections, in spring and summer, there was much more color with wildflowers. Oh well. :)

  10. A belated comment... (scrambling to finish outside projects). With all that cover, your prairie looks very healthy even though it's brown.

    1. Ah, yes, I've been sidetracked with outdoor projects and also play (while the weather was nice). The prairie is very healthy--in all seasons. (Also, you're welcome about the Wordless Wednesday introduction. :) )

    1. Thank you. It turns out, this portion of the prairie wasn't as colorful as I thought it would be during the summer. Maybe I'll focus on a different setting in 2022. :)
