  1. Love these photos Beth. That toad looks like it is stuffed full and ready for hibernation. ha... It won't be long.

    1. Thanks, Lisa. Yes, I feel a bit bad about the toad. He/she was hanging out under a potted plant that I had set in a hole for the winter and just got around to lifting it for planting in a different place. I guess he/she still has a bit of time to find a new seasonal hiding place. ;-)

    1. Thanks, Margaret. I'm always amazed when I look closely to see how many species of creatures make themselves at home in the garden. It's so encouraging!

  5. Great set of shots, Beth. I especially like the *almost* entwined monarch cats.

    1. Thank you, Tina. I was holding the leaves I found them on. They started wrapping around as I was taking the photo--wriggly little buddies. :)

  6. Your critters are out in force! A key sign of a successful garden. Love the photos. Jealous of your caterpillars - I've seen plenty of Monarchs this year, but very few cats.

    1. It seemed to be a good year for monarchs--here at least, Jason. I haven't found caterpillars lately, since it's the end of the season. But for a while, I couldn't find any milkweed stalks that didn't have either eggs or caterpillars on them. Now the adult butterflies are migrating through in full force!

  7. There is a lot of life moving around in your garden. We've had more butterflies this year, but they move too fast for my camera. Lots of bees and bugs, too.

  8. What a pudgy toad, quite happy it seems. There is obviously plenty bugs for snacking.
