Memories of early spring

  1. I think it is the promise of those tiny green rays of hope that keeps us going in the dark winter days.

  2. Oh well, we have it all to look forward to again in about 5 months!

  3. I love it!!! I was just searching through my spring photos too the other day to find out where to plant some bulbs. Happy, happy green.

  4. Bliss. I love spring.

All season I have reminded myself to not feel bad about taking an extra dozen... ok maybe hundred... shots of the garden at certain times because it is like storing away food for the winter to a creative soul. We will not starve!

  5. @Janet: Yes, very true! I'll be looking at these photos in late February when I can't stand the winter anymore.

@Bridget: It's probably more like 6 months for us in Wisconsin, but we still have a few weeks of lovely fall weather...if the sun would come out!

  6. @Hanni: Good idea! I need to start planning for next year, too.

@Julie: That is true. It's such a joy to open fellow bloggers' pages in the middle of winter and see exquisite, colorful blooms fill the screen. :)

  7. For a moment you had me fooled - I thought you were showing some kind of fall bulb :) It's hard to prepare for the annual dying back ...

  8. I love it when I see signs of life coming up from something brown and decayed. Here it's great when we *finally* get rain and the hidden wildflowers begin to sprout. Thanks for reminding us (me) that there is life under the dry, bitter soil.

  9. I have been bulb shopping for next spring! Those little heads peaking up out of the ground is something to look forward to!

  10. As much as I enjoy fall, I'm not looking forward to winter. This is what keeps me going through those long, dark days! I've got lots of bulbs to start planting.

  11. That's funny, I was just looking at winter photos! Seems many are longing for something other than the season we're in!

  12. Your post title is so funny because I've been thinking ahead already too!
btw, the hosta in your previous post is GORGEOUS. I love the purple blooms. I only have a few Hostas and all their blooms are white and none are blooming now! I'd say it's a wonderful one.

  13. @Sheila: Tee hee. Yes, it is. I think these early spring photos will help me make it through the long winter, though.

@Diane: That's when we witness the most dramatic changes, isn't it? Hard to believe these little plants can survive cold, drought, heat, and everything else.

@Karin: Definitely something to look forward to. Good luck with the spring bulbs!

  14. @Rose: I totally agree. I could skip January and February and be very happy.

@Cat: The current season is amazing. I'm not excited about what follows it. So I guess I should live in the moment for now.

@Kathleen: Thank you! That means a lot coming from you. I think the Hostas are even still blooming now (I forgot to look this past weekend).
