  1. Even when you're used to that shift, it's got to come as a shock, or at least a disappointment. Snow is pretty, though - but then I don't have to live with it.

    1. Yes, Kris, it's certainly an adjustment every year. It's my least-favorite season, but it does help me appreciate the other seasons. LOL. And I guess it allows me to grow some plants that need dormant periods and that thrive with some rest. The snow is pretty... I keep thinking winter would be wonderful if it wasn't soooo cold. ;-)

    1. Hi Dora: I hope your winter won't be too brutal. The forecast for us is looking a little rough (lots of snow and cold). I hope the forecasters will be wrong. LOL.

  4. That photo is so beautiful and yet a little heartbreaking, capturing the sudden end of the gardening season so perfectly. It's always a shock when the weather makes that sudden, dramatic shift.

    1. Thanks. Yes the transition was overnight, from warm autumn to cold winter. We've had a few warm days here since then, so that helps. All the best to you in the weeks ahead. :)

  5. Spring/summer pink with a sprinkling of winter's frost. Meanwhile, it's 80 as a high here. Sigh! Lovely photo, Beth--stay warm! Tina

    1. Hi Tina: I'm jealous of your 80s. We've had a few warm (60s) days recently, and that felt good after the cold. But now it looks like we'll plunge right back into winter. I guess it's OK through the holidays... :)

    1. Thanks, Susie. Snow and frost on flowers is pretty, but sad to see them collapsed soon afterward. Oh well, I guess it's time for the cold months.

  8. Wow, first snow? I do love how quiet it is during a snow storm.

    1. Fortunately, we've only had a dusting so far, but I know what you mean. During a storm with inches of snow, there is a calming effect. :)

  9. one of these days winter will come to Laramie ... currently highs in lows 60s, lows in low 40s, weird! Lots of wind to keep us in jackets though.

    1. Hi Hollis: We've been back to the 60s for the past few days, but now the 10-day forecast shows 40s and 50s for highs, which isn't too bad, I guess.
