  1. I hear you are receiving more snow. Poor thing. Hang in there. It won't be as long as it has been. Pretty picture.

    1. I'm not sure whether I was happy or sad about more snow. It IS January, and our 40F-50F temps weren't normal. But, overall, more snow and cold are ... blech. Still, it is pretty. See, I can't make up my mind. ;-)

  2. We didn't leave the house! Luckily no appointments and a full fridge which made it a pleasant day.

    1. Same here. But that makes two days in a row. Now I MUST go out tomorrow! Severe cabin fever sets in if I don't get out for a few days. I need people and activity! Time for a winter walk? We'll see if I have the courage. ;-)

    1. I know you're a winter fan, Donna. I truly have a love/hate relationship with it. The cold part is yucky. The white part is kinda nice. I like a little winter, but then I grow tired of it. Making peace for now. ;-)

  4. More gray, less snow here... Michelle

    1. Hi Michelle: All our snow melted, and then we got more today. It looks pretty, but ...

  5. A beautiful and appropriate January scene. I'm sure it's frustrating to be stuck inside though.

    1. Thanks. Late January and all of February are always a bit of a challenge. But I guess the days are getting longer.

  6. I hate it, but I love your picture. That's the best place for snow - on a picture.

  7. Winter is not my season, but I admit, with views of the snow sometimes delight. Regards.

    1. Yes, same with me. I like a little, but there's too much. It's pretty, but it's too cold for too long.

  8. Your picture sure makes winter look delightful. I love snow but miss more active gardening.

    1. Thanks, Peter. I miss gardening, too. And winter is simply too long.

  9. Hi Beth, for me winter is with no doubt frightful! I simply physically have such a hard time dealing with the cold.
Looking at winter photos like yours is delightful though ;-)!
    Warm regards,
    Christina

    1. Hi Christina: The cold is mysterious thing. I dislike it, as well. But a funny thing happens after we've had subzero weather (below 0F) for a stretch. When the temps bounce back above 32F, it feels like spring. Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of mild weather in the near forecast. :(

  10. Delightful... but in small, short doses!

    1. That's an interesting thought, Indie! I think I prefer it to be consistently cold for a shorter time, and then to slowly but steadily move to spring. Of course, that never happens! It's a roller-coaster ride around here!

  11. I think it's delightful...for a while. But I sure wish we'd get some snow!

    1. The snow does make for a fresher canvas, that's true. Days on end with gray and brown can be demoralizing. But the trade-off is often an earlier spring, which is always nice!

  12. December was on the frightful side - too much shoveling! Snowless January is just sort of weird.

    1. It's interesting that you haven't had much snow. We have a nice, light coating of about 1-2 inches covering the plants. It looks like it won't melt anytime soon. I guess that's pleasant to look at, but too cold.

  13. Hi,
I love snow. Snow ='s Delightful

Ice ='s Frightful I hate ice! We ended up with an ice storm last week. My friend had to crawl out to let her dog out. My son Sam fell on our driveway. I fell on a walk.

We are attending the Eau Claire Garden Seminar Saturday. I am excited. :-) The main speaker will be Tim Johnson of Seed Saver's!!

    1. Yes! Ice is the worst, absolutely! Snow is lovely and delightful. However, I simply abhor the cold. Fortunately, it hasn't been too bad this winter. But it's always too long. I hope you had fun at the seminar!

  14. Delightful! I much prefer our short, inconsistent winter to our hot, humid summer! A common topic of conversation regarding winter is, "Do you think we will get snow this year?" If we get snow, it is usually a treat.

    1. That would be nice. Actually, my "ideal" winter would be snow in December and early January, and then a slow, steady move to spring ... by the end of February. Unfortunately, winter has a way of being erratic. And then it plays ping-pong with spring in March.

  15. I am a winter . . .
So for me it has been "frightful."
I am still hoping for some
    DELIGHTFUL . . .
a foot or two would help!

    1. Ah, you're a snow-lover! I must admit having a white landscape is pretty. The browns and grays get tiring. If only winter didn't last so long...

  16. As much of a pain as snow can be, I'd much rather have that than freezing rain. :-\
