Probably my limited sun here. They seem to be doing OK in dappled and partial shade, and I like them in pots. I'm still having some issues with the Asters (rabbits, mildew, etc.), but maybe next year will be the year. ;-)Beth at PlantPostingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10473637655960119672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3905148744278712684.post-18879768271696002722017-09-25T20:45:50.747-05:002017-09-25T20:45:50.747-05:00Beautiful! The exception is the west-facing garden against the house. It gets downright hot over there from about noon through the end of the day, because of the reflection of the sun on the side of the house. The Zinnias and Cosmos love it! Re: the acorns--yes, that makes sense! We had quite a few turkeys here the other day because they love acorns. They're so fun to watch!Beth at PlantPostingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10473637655960119672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3905148744278712684.post-50732131752035399232017-09-21T11:13:03.295-05:002017-09-21T11:13:03.295-05:00Thanks, Peter. The squirrels and chipmunks are starting to bury the nuts now, but there are just so many! It's actually dangerous to walk across the backyard. I think it's more a function of the plentiful supply than a sign of a mild winter, but I'm not sure. :)Beth at PlantPostingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10473637655960119672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3905148744278712684.post-18266607265804554552017-09-21T11:10:34.301-05:002017-09-21T11:10:34.301-05:00Yes, it is. I agree this has been a strange season. I am not surprised at the bumper crop of acorns....it reminds me of what I read recently about how each bumper crop adds to another.....acorns feed the critters who produce more bringing in the next critters up on the food chain.
