Nearly wordless: unprepared!

(I could have photographed this hoar frost for hours, but I was unprepared!  All I had with me during a brief lunch break was my late-model camera phone. Time to upgrade!)

  1. Lovely frost! I always am tempted to apologize for phone photos, but the convenience is amazing. So many photo opportunities we would have missed just a few years ago...

    1. Yeah, the frost was amazing. I agree about the convenience, but in low light the quality with 3 megapixels is not great. If I'd had a decent camera with me, I could have captured some landscape shots, too. The frost completely covered the hills and the trees--it was spectacular!

  2. They're beautiful photos! We had the same hoarfrost on Monday morning, and I snapped a few pictures. The trees were especially beautiful, but I had an appointment to get to, and by the time I got back home it had all melted in my yard. Love the last photo!

    1. Thanks, Rose. I know--it's so tempting to drop everything and just go crazy with the photos. I really wanted to drive home and grab my camera, but I had to get back to work. Frustrating!

    1. So true, Laura! It completely caught me by surprise. I think I gasped when I saw the hills and the plants covered with it. It seemed like a winter scene from a child's fantasy movie.

    1. Thanks, Donna! The last one seemed decent. If only the resolution was a little better!

  6. Don't mind about the camera, they are beautiful, expecially the last one in my opinion.

    1. Thanks, Donna. It really was so pretty--covering all the hills and the plants. It looked like a winter wonderland, and the temperatures weren't very cold. So it would have been a good day for a walk, with a good camera in hand.

  9. What cool frost! I think the pix are great! The frost looks like teeny pipe cleaners.

    1. Yeah, I noticed the pretty scene while I was driving, and then when I got out of the car and looked closely I realized the hoar frost was so exquisitely formed.

    1. Thanks, Claudia! I'm looking forward to upgrading my camera phone, so the resolution will be better. (Or I need to have a camera in the car all the time.) But I'm glad I got to see and capture a bit of the beautiful scene. :)

  11. You did a great job with your camera phone. I upgraded from 1 mp phone to 6 mp and it does make a difference. Impressive nonetheless.

    1. Thank you! The new camera phones are amazing! They kind of replace the need for a separate "point and shoot" -- so you can have your high-end camera, and supplement it with a decent camera phone. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours!
